The UK Government has launched a major public cyber security awareness campaign encouraging individuals and businesses to adopt basic but critical protective measures against the growing threat of cyber attacks.

The UK Government, through the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and DSIT, has launched 'Lock the Door'a national cyber security awareness campaign urging UK individuals and businesses to adopt fundamental protective measures against the accelerating frequency and sophistication of cyber attacks. The campaign targets the most exploitable vulnerabilities in the UK's cyber security posture: weak passwords, unpatched software, lack of multi-factor authentication, and low employee awareness of phishing and social engineering techniques.

The campaign marks a shift in government communications toward more direct, action-oriented messaging, drawing on behavioural science research to maximise adoption of protective behaviours. 'Lock the Door' is accompanied by a refreshed NCSC guidance library, a free small business cyber security assessment tool, and a national schools programme on cyber safety. The campaign has the explicit backing of the Cabinet Office and is being delivered through a significant media buy across digital, broadcast, and outdoor channels.

The cyber security landscape is directly relevant to the UK–Pakistan technology partnership. Pakistan faces significant cyber security challenges in its public sector and critical infrastructure, creating demand for UK expertise in cyber resilience, incident response, and security operations. UPTECH sees the UK's heightened national focus on cyber security as an opportunity to position UK cyber security companies as preferred partners for Pakistan's own national cyber security improvement programmes, and will explore co-ordinated engagement opportunities with Pakistan's National Cyber Security Authority.
