Pakistan has assumed the Chairmanship of the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO), taking on a pivotal leadership role in shaping global digital policy and cross-border technology cooperation.

Pakistan formally assumed the Chairmanship of the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) in February 2026, taking on the rotating presidency of the inter-governmental body whose 16 member states collectively represent over 800 million people and some of the world's fastest-growing digital economies. The DCO focuses on advancing the digital economy, promoting inclusive digital policies, and facilitating cross-border digital trade and cooperation.

Pakistan's Chairmanship, overseen by Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, will advance a programme centred on AI governance, digital financial inclusion, digital skills development, and frameworks for responsible cross-border data flows. The Chairmanship gives Pakistan significant influence over the multilateral digital policy agenda for the duration of its term.

For UK technology companies engaged in digital governance, regulatory technology, and public sector digitalisation, Pakistan's DCO Chairmanship creates valuable access opportunities. UPTECH will leverage Pakistan's elevated multilateral standing to facilitate introductions for UK members into DCO-aligned programmes and to advance the bilateral technology partnership agenda within international digital cooperation frameworks.
