Pakistan has secured a landmark USD 1 billion commitment to artificial intelligence infrastructure and development, marking the largest single AI investment pledge in the country's history.

Pakistan has secured a USD 1 billion commitment dedicated to artificial intelligence infrastructure, talent development, and enterprise AI deployment, the largest single AI investment pledge in the country's history. The commitment, announced in February 2026, brings together international technology investors, multilateral development finance institutions, and domestic capital to fund a coordinated national AI scale-up programme.

The investment will be deployed across AI computing infrastructure, university AI research centres, enterprise AI adoption programmes for the banking and telecommunications sectors, and a national AI startup accelerator. Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja described the commitment as a pivotal moment for Pakistan's ambition to be a top-five AI services economy by 2030.

For the UK–Pakistan technology partnership, the USD 1 billion AI investment creates substantial commercial opportunities for UK technology companies with AI infrastructure, consulting, and training capabilities. UPTECH is working to identify the most relevant procurement and partnership pathways within the investment programme for UK member companies, and will host a dedicated briefing session for interested members.
